Hi everyone. I love pancakes and make them every Sunday and thoroughly enjoy eating them. I thought I would tell you how to make both the small and big ones.
Big pancakes:
- This recipe is by Delia Smith.
- It takes approximately 30mins to prepare and 3 mins to cook one pancake.
- It makes about 8-12 pancakes
Ingredients:
- 110g plain flour
- 2 eggs
- 200ml milk mixed in a jug with 75ml of water
- 50g butter
Method:
- Put the flour and crack the eggs in a large mixing bowl
- Use either an electric or hand whisk to whisk it all together gradually adding the milk and water mix
- Once all the liquid mixture is mixed in,use a spoon to go around the bowl and check there are no lumps of flour. If there are, carry on whisking.
- Once all the lumps are gone and the mixture is a consistency of single cream, heat a pan and melt the butter using a spatula to mix it all over the pan.
- Then pour the butter into the mixture and whisk tha. In. Your pancakes are ready to cook.
- To cook your pancakes, use a ladle to measure the quantity of one pancake. You want just under one ladle.
- Pour the ladle into the pan and circle the pan around so that the mixture is covering all of the pan.
- After about 2mins or until you can move the pancake by shaking the pan flip the pancake over either in the traditional way or using a spatula
- After that cook for about 30secs and your pancakes is ready to eat.
- These taste especially nice with lemon and sugar or golden syrup.
Small pancakes:
- This recipe is from Kids in the Kitchen by Sara Lewis
- It makes about 25mins to prepare and 2mins to cook
- It makes about 12- 16/pancakes
Ingredients:
- 250g self-raising flour
- 2 eggs
- 25g caster sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 230ml milk
Method
- Mix together the flour, eggs, vanilla extract, baking powder and the sugar.
- Follow steps two and three on the big pancakes with the milk
- Once all the lumps are gone and the mixture is a consistency of double cream.
- Heat a pan and melt a little bit of butter and move it around with the spatula
- Use a tablespoon to measure the mixture with the spoon and depending on how big your pan is depends on how many you can fit on the pan
- Cook them for about 1min 30 secs or until they bubble allover then flip them using the spatula and cook them on that side for about 25 secs
- They are now ready to be served and to be eaten.
- They are especially nice with sugar and butter or maple syrup.
Enjoy your pancakes
