Pancakes

Hi everyone. I love pancakes and make them every Sunday and thoroughly enjoy eating them. I thought I would tell you how to make both the small and big ones.

Big pancakes:
  • This recipe is by Delia Smith.
  • It takes approximately 30mins to prepare and 3 mins to cook one pancake.
  • It makes about 8-12 pancakes

Ingredients:
  • 110g plain flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 200ml milk mixed in a jug with 75ml of water
  • 50g butter

Method:
  1. Put the flour and crack the eggs in a large mixing bowl
  2. Use either an electric or hand whisk to whisk it all together gradually adding the milk and water mix
  3. Once all the liquid mixture is mixed in,use a spoon to go around the bowl and check there are no lumps of flour. If there are, carry on whisking.
  4. Once all the lumps are gone and the mixture is a consistency of single cream, heat a pan and melt the butter using a spatula to mix it all over the pan.
  5. Then pour the butter into the mixture and whisk tha. In. Your pancakes are ready to cook.
  6. To cook your pancakes, use a ladle to measure the quantity of one pancake. You want just under one ladle.
  7. Pour the ladle into the pan and circle the pan around so that the mixture is covering all of the pan.
  8. After about 2mins or until you can move the pancake by shaking the pan flip the pancake over either in the traditional way or using a spatula
  9. After that cook for about 30secs and your pancakes is ready to eat.
  10. These taste especially nice with lemon and sugar or golden syrup.

Small pancakes:
  • This recipe is from Kids in the Kitchen by Sara Lewis
  • It makes about 25mins to prepare and 2mins to cook
  • It makes about 12- 16/pancakes

Ingredients:
  • 250g self-raising flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 25g caster sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 230ml milk

Method
  1. Mix together the flour, eggs, vanilla extract, baking powder and the sugar.
  2. Follow steps two and three on the big pancakes with the milk
  3. Once all the lumps are gone and the mixture is a consistency of double cream.
  4. Heat a pan and melt a little bit of butter and move it around with the spatula
  5. Use a tablespoon to measure the mixture with the spoon and depending on how big your pan is depends on how many you can fit on the pan
  6. Cook them for about 1min 30 secs or until they bubble allover then flip them using the spatula and cook them on that side for about 25 secs
  7. They are now ready to be served and to be eaten.
  8. They are especially nice with sugar and butter or maple syrup.

Enjoy your pancakes
